Luke and Lorelai. Meant to Be <33
As television's most followed couple, Luke and Lorelai have had their shares of ups and downs. They've gone through a breakup, engagement, and another breakup, before now settling into life away from each other. Although Lorelai is now married to the father of her almost 22 year old daughter, and Luke the proud papa of a 13 year old girl, we all know they belong together and know that sometime soon, they'll find their way back to each other, the way it's all supposed to be.
They Have A History...
Luke had always had a little crush on Lorelai. Always. Seasons 1-4 were all about that. They had their little "moments," like one in the first season when Lorelai helped Luke pick out the paint colors for his diner,
Luke went in for the kill late in season four, when he asked Lorelai to accompany him to his sister's Renaissance-themed wedding. LL danced and had a great time. After, Luke walked Lorelai home and asked her out. Lorelai accepted.
Lorelai discussed her feelings about the night with Rory:
RORY: Danced? How?
LORELAI: We pop-locked.
RORY: Was it a fast dance, slow dance, group dance?
LORELAI: It was a slow dance. What is "group dance?"
RORY: The hustle, the hora.
LORELAI: No hustle, no hora. It was a slow dance -- a waltz. Luke can waltz.
RORY: Luke can waltz?!
LORELAI: Luke can waltz.
RORY: Look how you just said, "Luke can waltz."
LORELAI: What, I'm just saying, I'm surprised that Luke can waltz.
RORY: That sounded more like, "I'm surprised I still have my clothes on."
Later, at the opening of Lorelai's inn, the two were feuding on the porch about how Luke had been hinting to Lorelai how he liked her.
Luke- I thought we were on track, and now you're standing there looking at me like I'm crazy.
Lorelai-I'm not looking at you like you're crazy!!
Luke- You know the last time I bought flowers for someone? Never! that's when. Very easy stat to remember!
Lorelai- I loved the flowers!
Luke- And then when I walked you home after the wedding, there was a moment, I thought there was a moment.
Lorelai- There was! There was a moment [Luke gazes at Lorelai, then moves closer]
Lorelai- What are you doing?
Luke- Will you just stand still?
[He Gathers her in his arms, and they kiss, Lorelai pulls away then moves back closer to Luke]
Luke- What are you doing?
Lorelai- will you just stand still?
[she leans in and they kiss again]
Luke moves in for the kill, kisses Lorelai, and then pulls back. After a second, Lorelai kisses him back.
It's the beginning of an era.
Season 5 is your average "we're together now" mushy gushy stuff, with a break up in between at Lorelai's parent's vow renewal, brought on by the being of Christopher.
They get back together later in season 5, and on the finale episode, Lorelai asks Luke to marry her. The sixth season starts when Luke accepts Lorelai's proposal, and the two kiss under the gazebo.
During the 6th season, LL begins to have problems. Luke finds out that he has a 12 year old daughter with ex girlfriend Anna Nardini. Lorelai isn't happy when she finds out, but learns to live with it.
On the night of the 6th season finale, Lorelai goes to Luke with an ultimatum.
Luke disagrees and Lorelai walks off, broken hearted, back into the arms of Christopher Hayden, Rory's father.
CURRENT LUKE/LORELAI STATUS?
BROKEN UP. LORELAI'S MARRIED TO CHRISTOPHER, AND LUKE IS TAKING CARE OF HIS DAUGHTER, APRIL NARDINI. FORECAST FOR THE FUTURE LOOKS GOOD, HOPEFULLY THEY'LL BE BACK TOGETHER BY FEBRUARY.
